WHY                                        FASCIAL MANIPULATION®?

Research-Backed

Through collaborations with the Anatomy Faculties of the University of Padova (Italy) and René Descartes University, Paris, Dr. Carla Stecco and Dr. Antonio Stecco have conducted extensive research into the anatomy and histology of fascia.
The method is supported by over 200 scientific publications, including clinical studies such as “Fascial Manipulation® for chronic specific low back pain: a single-blinded randomized controlled trial” by Branchini et al.

Today, ongoing collaborations involve leading institutions such as Harvard Medical School, NYU Langone, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Pioneered

Fascial Manipulation® was originally developed by Luigi Stecco, a physiotherapist from Northern Italy.
Over the past 40 years, the method has been continuously refined through study, clinical application, and anatomical research — further advanced by Dr. Carla Stecco and Dr. Antonio Stecco, whose scientific contributions have expanded its evidence base and international recognition.
Today, it represents a comprehensive and structured model for understanding human movement and treating dysfunctions within the fascial system.

FOUNDERS

Luigi Stecco, PT

Founder of the Fascial Manipulation® method.

A physiotherapist from Northern Italy, Luigi Stecco dedicated over 40 years of his career to studying the human fascial system and its pivotal role in movement and pain.

His clinical experience and continuous anatomical research led to the creation of a structured model of human motion — laying the foundation for what is now recognised worldwide as the Fascial Manipulation® Method.

Luigi Stecco’s pioneering vision inspired an international network of instructors, researchers, and clinicians who continue to advance his legacy through education and scientific collaboration.

Dr. Antonio Stecco, MD, PhD

Clinical Instructor at Rusk Rehabilitation, New York University, and Specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

President of the Fascial Manipulation Association and an internationally recognised researcher in the field of human fasciae. His work spans over 100 anatomical dissections, 40+ scientific publications, and global teaching of the Fascial Manipulation®/STECCO® method.

Dr. Stecco’s pioneering studies continue to shape the modern understanding of fascia in movement and pain science.

Dr. Carla Stecco, MD

Professor of Human Anatomy at the University of Padova and Orthopedic Surgeon.

A leading authority in fascial anatomy, Dr. Stecco’s research explores the macroscopic, histological, and physiopathological aspects of human fasciae. She is a distinguished member of the Italian Society of Anatomy and Histology, the European Association of Clinical Anatomy, and the International Academy of Manual Musculoskeletal Medicine.

Dr. Stecco has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and lectures internationally, advancing the global understanding of fascia’s vital role in movement and musculoskeletal health.

Alp Ertung

Certified Fascial Manipulation® Specialist
Fascial Manipulation® Teacher
Neuromuscular Therapist, H.Dip.

Alp Ertung is a Certified Fascial Manipulation® Teacher and Specialist based in Vancouver, Canada.

He teaches the Stecco Method internationally and integrates his background in neuromuscular therapy with advanced fascial techniques.

In 2011, Alp pursued postgraduate studies in Neuromuscular Therapy at the College of Complementary Medical Education in Dublin, Ireland. His growing passion for fascia led him to participate in international fascial anatomy dissections, the Fascia Research Summer School in Germany, and multiple Fascia Research Congresses.

After years of clinical application and advanced study, Alp became a Certified Fascial Manipulation® Specialist, and later earned his Teacher Certification following mentorship and training with Dr. Carla Stecco and Dr. Antonio Stecco in Padova, Italy.
